Brian Croser Adelaide Hills 2017 Pinot Noir

2017 Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir shows the best qualities of the Adelaide Hills cool climate Pinot Noir.

The aroma is of fresh cherries, spicy and ripe because of the warm year with a sweet middle and good tight tannins to finish.

Medium weight and translucent, 2017 Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir is a refreshingly balanced wine best appreciated with delicate milk fed lamb rack or pink pigeon breast.

Vintage Notes

The 2017 Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir is from two Adelaide Hills vineyards, 85% from the old vine Weaver Lenswood Vineyard of mixed clones including MV6 and Dijon clone 115, 33% and 15% from the Wilson vineyard in Piccadilly Valley, close planted with Dijon clone 114.

The Lenswood and Piccadilly Valley grapes were hand harvested in March after a cool and late growing season.

Winemaking Notes

The crushed and de-stemmed grapes were chilled to 0.9 tonne tubs and allowed to cold macerate before a daily hand plunging of the fermenting must. The fermented wine was drained and pressed straight to French oak barriques (20% new) and allowed to go through malo-lactic fermentation on full lees in barrique. The wine was clear racked after 10 months in barrique and was bottled in February 2017.
