Concentrated and focused, let this Tapanappa Tiers Chardonnay breathe for now or give it some bottle age and it will pay you back in spades. A few days of tasting proved that. An excellent wine as ever, but it’s tightly wound and I suspect it will be at its best around the five-year mark.
Brian Croser describes 2024 as a model vintage. Bringing the mouth to water, an array of peaches, white fleshed nectarines, lemon juice and yellow grapefruit make the first impression. Deft touches of creme brulee, vanilla, almonds and cashews fold into one another with ease and it was thrilling watching this develop over a few days as that tense acidity calmed and the flavour profile slowly revealed itself. In peak form on day three, be patient here and you’ll be showered with joy and class in equal doses.
