“A superb red” - 2012 Whalebone Vineyard Merlot Cab Franc

“This excellent red has little of the minty signature of the region, but is more a matter of violets, earth, forest-floor and dried flowers. There's a trace of Vegemite, possibly from oak and/or lees contact.
In the mouth, it's full-bodied and dense, generously flavoured and rich in fleshy extract with a lavish quota of ripe, supple tannins. The back palate and finish are soft and harmonious. A superb red to drink from now to around 2037.”

THE good news is this is a top- quality chardonnay; the bad news is it there was only a small batch produced. My advice is to get online and grab a bottle or two of these today.

NO WASHED-out, cordial-like colour for this robust pinot noir. Still revealing that lighter red drinking style typical of pinots, but offering bigger fruit flavours with nice spice. Loved it.

This is a super wine based on the Right Bank Bordeaux blend. Silky smooth and so elegantly structured, it features a lovely balance of fruit and fine-grained oak, with superb fine tannins. Nice touch of cedar on the nose. Will continue to evolve with age.

“fine wine written all over it” - 2012 Whalebone Cabernet Shiraz

This has “fine wine” written all over it - from complex scents of attractive, mahogany oak, to the seductive richness of dark and blue fruit layered through the wine. The powerful, fuller figured feel is shaped with powdery tannins, bayleaf herbal detail and dragged long on slick acid. It's a wine that shows architecture in the palate, richness, and class.

“the quality is undeniable” - 2012 Whalebone Cabernet Shiraz

Deeply coloured. Dense choc mint, cedar, cassis and earthy fruits plus toasty oak. Dry, full and structural with slightly firm chewy tannins well balanced - a firm, robust and masculine style that needs time to settle but the quality is undeniable.
